Fourth Olazabal and Nadal Invitational: Grand Charity Tournament in Pula Golf Resort

Once again we were proud to sponsor the Olazabal & Nadal Invitational, a charity golf tournament which on this occasion was organised in support of socially disadvantaged people in situations of social exclusion, via the Sport Mundi and Rafa Nadal foundations.

The golf competition was held from the 24th to the 27th of November at the Pula Golf Resort in Son Servera. A total of 72 players took part, divided into 18 teams in a Pro-Am format, and the team featuring the tennis star from Manacor, Rafa Nadal, won for the second year in a row with a general card of 126 hits, beating the -121 hits achieved by the team led by the Basque golf star José María Olazábal.

Rafa Nadal collected the trophy from his colleague José María Olazábal and thanked his friend for his kind donation to his museum; the golf bag he was using as captain of the ‘Miracle at Medinah’ at the 2012 Ryder Cup. He also expressed his gratitude to all the sponsors for their support of this worthy cause.

The tournament boasted some first class golf players amongst its participants; Carlota Ciganda and Miguel Ángel Jiménez. Also playing were Álvaro Quirós, Alejandro Cañizares, Jesús Legarrea, Santiago Luna, Benoit Tellería, Jordi García Pinto, Lorenzo Gagli, Eduardo Larrañaga, to name just a few of the participating professionals.

The event was also supported by some great international chefs who generously contributed their gastronomy to the cause; Santi Taura, Macarena de Castro and the Manzano siblings (Nacho and Esther).
