The 36 Copa del Rey MAPFRE, the biggest in its history

The 36 Copa del Rey MAPFRE, the biggest in history, took place from the 29th of July to the 5th of August and proved to be a very exciting and unforgettable experience for the athletes, contributors and, above all, for all our team at Mallorca Sotheby's International Realty.

It was the biggest regatta in the history of the event, with 138 boats of 24 different nationalities. King Felipe VI took part, as did Pierre Casiraghi, a member of the Royal House of Monaco, with the vessel Malizia Yacht Club de Monaco. The meteorological conditions for navigation, which are usually some of the most ideal in Mallorca, varied on this occasion. The high temperatures, however, were constant. Nonetheless, none of that took away from the success of the regatta or its intensive social programme.

As well as participating in the competition, King Felipe VI also played his traditional role as host at the presentation of the trophies: the big winner of the Mallorca Sotheby's IRC class was the British boat Alegreto whom we extend our sincerest congratulations!

This year also featured a tribute to the Olympic sailors of Barcelona '92, which the King also presided over, along with the president of the Spanish Olympic Committee, Alejandro Blanco.

Aside from these competitive activities, another contest with the same setting, the sea, had special prominence: the impressive Ocean Dream project. This is an initiative of a group of women who have overcome the terrible disease that is cancer and who, with great courage, intend to cross the Atlantic in support of research and the development of new treatments against this disease.Read more about the initiative.

Mallorca Sotheby's International Realty was also in attendance at the traditional Boat-owners' Dinner, a very special social event with more than 600 guests from among boat-owners, sponsors and contributors. Light shows and sublime musical performances took centre stage at a beautiful and magical night.

Last but not least, Friday the 4th of August was Mallorca Sotheby's International Realty day:we were able to enjoy a wonderful boat trip in the morning and we ended the day with a special party for our partners, clients and friends where personalities from the Mallorcan worlds of high society, sport and culture were in attendance. A highlight was the performance by Tiggi Hawke, a singer from London, who managed to impress all the attendees. It was a night where we enjoyed a fantastic atmosphere and excellent food and where networks and connections were made in the best of settings.

It was a perfect way to end a great week.
