Last Thursday we attended the first journalism award ceremony organised by the German newspaper, Mallorca Zeitung.
News reporting aimed at Germans has a much greater presence in Mallorca than in any other foreign community on the island. «We want to help to raise the bar for information offered, because the German-speaking public deserves it. And this island does, too,» commented Ciro Krauthausen, Mallorca Zeitung’s editor-in-chief.
It was our pleasure to award one of the spectacular statuettes created by Miquel Segura to Frank Rumpf. He received the trophy for his report, ‘Cuando la nieve espolvorea la playa’ (When Snow Dusts the Beach), a story about winter in Mallorca published in the Sunday supplement Welt am Sonntag.
Two more reports were also honoured. The first was ‘A fin de cuentas: Mallorca’ (All Things Considered: Mallorca), emitted by WDR. The other was ‘Mallorca: un amor alemán' (Mallorca: A German Love), produced by Daniel Guthmann and Christian Buckard and published by ZDF in its space “History,” a story released after 10 years of work.
This first gala ceremony ended with a cocktail party, deliciously catered by the Mallorcan Es Rebost.
