MALLORCA SOTHEBY’S INTERNATIONAL REALTY CELEBRATES THE 38TH COPA DEL REY MAPFRE

From July 29thuntil Aug 3rdthe 38th edition of Copa del Rey MAPFRE united 1500 sailors from 132 teams and 26 countries in a thrilling competition, racing in 11 classes on four different areas in the bay of Palma. In the 2019 season this truly spectacular regatta pioneered a new classification system, brought the third event of the GC32 Racing Tour, inaugurated the Women's Cup and consolidated efforts with participants, partners and sponsors to run the regatta without single-use plastic and encourage everyone to think more sustainably.

Following the long-time established relationships with the Real club Nautico de Palma, Mallorca Sotheby’s International Realty had the honour to sponsor two sailing classes of the regatta, Mallorca Sotheby’s IRC Class, where for the first time in the history of the race the Italian flagged Maxi72 Cannonballby Dario Ferrari won in a tense race, and the Mallorca Sotheby’s Club Swan 42 class, where the Natalia Brailoiu and her team Natalia showed exceptional skills and tactics during the race and achieved the victory.

Two monarchs competing in the Club Swan 50s class at the Copa del Rey Mapfre was one of the biggest highlights of the regatta. His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain steered the Aifos 500 to the 5th place while His Majesty King Harald of Norway helmed Fram XVIII to the 10th place. On the 4thday of the race Queen Letizia, accompanied by Princess Leonor and her sister, Infanta Sofia, made a surprise appearance in the Real Club Nautico de Palma to support King Felipe, meet sailors, organisers and enjoyed their holiday time on Mallorca.

While the attention was focused on the intense sailing competition, our guests enjoyed the race from the best vantage points and had an exciting social program. For Mallorca Sotheby’s International Realty this fantastic environment brings an opportunity to run an international network event during the week of the regatta, inviting strategic partners, clients and affiliates. The days included a joint visit to the recently inaugurated outstanding seaside property Infinity and we finished the week with the Mallorca Sotheby’s Sunset Party

The 38 Copa del Rey MAPFRE finished on Saturday afternoon with the emotional award ceremony in Ses Voltes with views over the famous Palma Cathedral. The trophy was presented by His Majesty King Felipe VI to all the winners of this spectacular sail race. Mallorca Sotheby’s Realty congratulates all the winners and participants of the 38th Copa del Rey MAPFRE and continues to engage their clients and partners around the next edition of this prestigious Mediterranean event, which will take place from July 31stto Aug 8th 2020.
